Instructions:

Now, skip the next 3 ch stitches, and in the following ch, make 7 double crochets (dc). Skip the next 3 ch stitches again, and make 1 sc in each of the next 3 ch stitches. Repeat this pattern from * until you reach the last 4 ch stitches. Skip the next 3 ch stitches and make 4 dc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2: Chain 1 and make 1 sc in each of the first two dc stitches. Then, chain 3, perform a double crochet seven together (dc7tog), chain 3, and make 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches. Repeat from * to the last 4 stitches. Chain 3, perform a double crochet four together (dc4tog). Turn.

Row 3: Chain 3. In the base of the chain-3 from the previous row, make 3 dc stitches. Skip the chain-3 space. Make 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc stitches. Skip the next chain-3 space, and in the top of the dc7tog cluster, make 7 dc stitches. Repeat from * to the last chain-3 and 2 sc stitches. Skip the chain-3 space, and make 1 sc in each of the last 2 sc stitches. Turn.

Row 4: Chain 3, which counts as the first dc. Perform a double crochet three together (dc3tog). Chain 3, make 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches. Chain 3, perform a double crochet seven together (dc7tog). Repeat from * to the last 2 stitches. Chain 3, make 1 sc in each of the last 2 stitches. Turn.

Row 5: Chain 1. Make 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc stitches. Skip the chain-3 space. In the top of the dc7tog cluster, make 7 dc stitches. Skip the chain-3 space, and make 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc stitches. Repeat from * to the last 3-ch space and 2 stitches. Skip the chain-3 space, and make 4 dc stitches in the turning chain. Turn.

The first 5 rows of the Stripe Pattern are now complete.

To continue with the Catherine’s Wheel Pattern, repeat Rows 2 to 5 until your work measures approximately 30 inches (76 cm) from the beginning. Then, fasten off and weave in the ends using a tapestry needle.

For the border:
Round 1: With the right side (RS) facing you, join the main color (MC) with a slip stitch (sl st) to any corner. Chain 1. Work single crochets (sc) evenly around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first sc. Turn.

Repeat Round 1 two more times or until you reach your desired border width. Fasten off.
