Creating a Simple Striped Tunisian Crochet Blanket

Written by Admin in

Tunisian crochet Blanket, often referred to as the “lovechild” of knitting and traditional crochet, is a versatile and beautiful craft that produces stunning textured fabrics. One of the most accessible projects for beginners is the Simple Striped Tunisian Crochet Blanket. This cozy and stylish blanket is not only a great introduction to Tunisian crochet but also an excellent way to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing home accessory.

In this article, we’ll explore the basics of Tunisian crochet and guide you through the process of making your own Simple Striped Tunisian Crochet Blanket.

The Simple Striped Tunisian Crochet Blanket predominantly employs the Tunisian Simple Stitch. This stitch is known for its loose texture, but to maintain the desired level of flexibility and comfort, it’s advisable to opt for a crochet hook that’s a few sizes larger than the standard recommendation for the yarn you’re using. This ensures that your stitches won’t become overly tight. The objective here is to strike a balance between a blanket that drapes gracefully and offers that delightful, plush coziness.

Reasons to love this Blanket

Learning the Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS) and color changes will open doors to more intricate projects in the future. It’s a wonderful stepping stone for crocheters eager to explore new techniques.

Materials You’ll Need

Before we dive into the project, let’s gather the materials you’ll need:

Tunisian crochet hook: Choose a hook size that corresponds with your yarn weight. A 6.0 mm or 6.5 mm hook is suitable for worsted-weight yarn.

Yarn: Select a soft, durable yarn in your preferred colors. For this project, you can use a single color or a combination of colors for stripes. Approximately 1,800-2,000 yards of yarn should be enough for an average-sized blanket.

Yarn needle: This will be used for weaving in ends and seaming, if necessary.

Scissors: For cutting yarn.
