Note: In this example, we’ll use a foundation chain with a multiple of 6 plus 2 for turning. For instance, you can chain 24 plus 2 in your sample.
Row 1: Begin by double crocheting (DC) in the second chain from your hook.
DC again, then chain 3, and skip the next 3 stitches.
Now, repeat the following pattern: 3 DC, chain 3, skip 3 chains until you have only 2 chains left.
Double crochet in the remaining 2 stitches.
Turn your work.
Row 2: Chain 1 (this does not count as a stitch), and skip the first 2 stitches. Work 7 treble crochets (7 TR) into the chain-3 space.
Continue by skipping the next stitch, double crocheting (DC), skipping the following stitch, and working 7 TR in the next chain-3 space.
Repeat this pattern from * to * until you have only 2 stitches left.
Skip the next stitch and DC in the last stitch.
Turn your work.
Row 3: Chain 4, which counts as a chain space.
Skip 3 stitches, then double crochet in the next 3 stitches.
Continue by chaining 3, skipping 5 stitches, and double crocheting in the next 3 stitches.
Repeat this pattern from * to * until you have only 2 stitches left.
Chain 1, skip a stitch, and treble crochet in the last stitch. (The chain-1 and treble crochet count as a chain space.)
